The season of giving.

Earlier today I posted this on Facebook and it seems to have struck such a chord with people I am going to plunk it right here, too. Probably preaching to the choir with this but feels good to post it anyhow. Please feel free to share, mail, read it aloud as you go door-to-door tonight, whatev.

Happy Halloween! And listen -- if a kid comes to your door tonight and doesn't say "Trick or Treat", or needs help understanding they are to take only one piece of candy from the bowl, or seems to really, really want to come in your house to see what kind of good junk y...ou have in there and has to be physically restrained by his or her parent from crossing your threshold, please just smile and say, "No problem at all, Happy Halloween!" Because odds are that child has autism and might not be down with this whole Halloween thing, and might need a bit of practice, okay? And the kid's parents will thank you for being a kind and patient person and it's Halloween for godssake so be loose and happy!
